"Playset Installers Saved My Marriage!" - Actual Customer Quote

I was floored when a customer came into our office and loudly exclaimed, "Your playset installers saved my marriage!".  With such a passionate opening message, I didn't know what to say other than, "you're welcome...?"  After we laughed a bit, the customer went on to explain how they thought they could install one of our larger playgrounds on their own, but quickly got overwhelmed.

Installing a Playset Should be FUN!

Installing your own backyard playset should be a source of joy as well as provide a sense of accomplishment.  Many families make installation a family affair where the children and parents all participate in the assembly process.  To avoid stress when installing a playground on your own, we recommend owners keep the following in mind:

Backyard Adventures Combo Playset

Do not set inflexible goals: Many of our customers set inflexible goals such as, "I must have this up in two days."  The speed of installing a playground is dependent upon countless factors you have no control over: weather, parts damaged in shipping, someone getting sick, getting called into work, etc.  It is better to set achievable goals such as, "after dinner, we are going to spend just two hours working on playground and accomplish what we can."

Read the manual: A number of our customers forget this step and it causes no end of frustration.  People ask me all the time what is the easiest way to install the playground, and I always reply, "Complete step 1, before starting step 2."  The Backyard Adventures' manuals are written in layman's terms and the parts are clearly labeled.  Furthermore, you may call the central help line or visit our store for guidance if you get stuck.

You are human: We have yet to sell a playset to a robot from the planet "Perfection".  Our customers are people and people make mistakes.  Fortunately, our playgrounds are made from quality wood products.  If you drill a hole, or place a screw in the wrong place, don't worry about it.  Simply redrill the hole or move the screw.  The wood is very forgiving.  The worst case scenario is that you completely destroy a piece of wood.  In which case, you can call our help line and we will quickly send a replacement piece for minimal cost.

Finally, don't volunteer someone for installation without speaking to them first:  We've had customers volunteer husbands, fathers, brothers, and neighbors to be their playground installers.  While these folks probably are more than willing to assist you, when you volunteer their services without consulting them, their stress level already starts rising.  Because you have just put your full trust in the 'volunteer'; a level of skill they now have to live up to.  Then, when the truck arrives and drops off one or more wooden pallets comprising hundreds of parts and accessories, their stress level rises exponentially.

CONCLUSION:

If you chose to install your new Backyard Adventures playset yourself, you can minimize the amount of stress of undertaking this rewarding activity.  First, make sure your goals are flexible.  Second, read the manual.  Third, remember you are human and most mistakes can be easily fixed.  Finally, if you are relying on someone else to assist you in the installation, consult with them first.  Following these steps will reduce your stress level and help you enjoy your backyard playset, and most importantly, your family.
